A Land of Delight Natural Farm & Nursery in Plant City is a working family farm, licensed Florida fruit tree nursery, and Saturday farmers market rolled into one property. The nursery carries more than 300 varieties of grafted citrus, mango, avocado, and other tropical fruit trees, with staff on hand to walk customers through variety selection, soil needs, and Florida climate considerations so a newly planted tree has a real chance of thriving. Every Saturday, the on-farm market sells USDA organic produce, raw local honey, pasture-raised eggs, small-batch baked goods, grass-fed burgers, and fresh fruit smoothies and milkshakes, alongside free 10:30 a.m. growing classes open to anyone curious about growing food in Florida's climate — no experience required. The farm also runs an Animal Rescue Farm that gives rescued animals a permanent, cared-for home, funded in part by proceeds from the market and nursery. For students and young people interested in agriculture, A Land of Delight offers a hands-on internship program covering aquaponics, regenerative soil-first farming, microgreen cultivation, sustainable energy, agribusiness, and environmental education. The throughline across all of it is the farm's founding belief that people, especially children, should know where their food actually comes from — an idea that turned a family's backyard lesson into a full nursery, market, and teaching farm serving the greater Tampa Bay area.

A Land of Delight Natural Farm & Nursery began in 2014, when Drs. Eric and Jennifer Gonyon broke ground on a small patch of Plant City soil to answer a question they kept asking themselves as parents: did their children actually understand where their food came from? What started as a hands-on lesson for their own kids — showing them that eggs come from chickens and honey is made by bees — grew as neighbors began stopping by asking for a dozen eggs, then seeds, then advice on growing their own food. That interest turned the Gonyons' family plot into a community resource, and they opened the farm's gates to the public. Over more than a decade, the property expanded into a licensed Florida nursery carrying hundreds of fruit tree varieties, a weekly farmers market, a rescue farm for animals in need of a home, and an educational program that now trains students in sustainable agriculture. The Gonyons describe the growth simply: they wanted their children to understand where food truly comes from, and that passion grew into something far bigger than their family ever expected. Today the farm continues that same mission from its original Plant City ground, serving Central Florida families who want the same connection to their food that started it all.
