About Asal Bee Cafe

A honey-centered café and shop built around raw Yemeni honey, including Sidr Doani, Sidr Osaimi, Socotra, Saal and Sumar varieties, plus Manuka, Turkish pine honey and mixes with propolis, pollen, ginger and black seed. The café menu runs to honey specialty drinks, Yemeni specialty drinks and Arabic coffee, herbal teas, waffles and pancakes, homemade ice cream, real fruit smoothies and refreshers. The retail side also carries nuts, seeds and dates, soaps, oils, home and hygiene items, and honey gift sets. Orders can be shipped or picked up at locations across metro Detroit, plus Paterson, New Jersey, and a recipe blog shares ways to cook with the honey.

The business traces back to 2004, when its founder opened a small honey shop called Jantan in Sana'a, Yemen, after years of watching bees in the mountains of his hometown, studying beekeeping and starting his own apiary. Honey first shared as gifts with family and friends grew into a store as demand increased. In 2016 the team set up a base in Michigan to import and distribute Yemeni and artisanal honeys across the U.S. and Canada, and in 2021 opened its first branded retail store in Dearborn. The café concept followed in 2024, extending the honey into drinks, waffles and desserts.
