About Fine Ink Studios Tattoos

Custom tattoo work and body piercing at the USF/North Tampa studio, with licensed artists who design pieces ranging from small single tattoos to full sleeves. Tattoo inks are 100% vegan, and piercings are done without piercing guns using implant-grade titanium and 14K gold jewelry. Free consultations, online booking with a deposit-based artist matching process, and walk-ins on a first-come basis. Aftercare resources and packages with antibacterial soap and unscented lotion are available, and minors 16 and older may be tattooed with a notarized parental consent form per Florida law.

Founder Rick Barnett painted portraits in his 20s before turning to tattooing as a way to combine art with human connection. He bought an existing studio in the Hunter's Creek area and renamed it in 2009, creating the first Fine Ink Studio. The business has since grown to locations throughout Central Florida, describes itself as the first franchise tattoo shop in the United States, and remains a family operation with the Barnett family involved in marketing, booking, artistry, and construction. Many of its artists come through the Fine Ink Mentorship program, an in-house training class for aspiring tattoo artists.
