Park, Tourist attraction in Kilmarnock, VA
A town-run park in downtown Kilmarnock open dawn to dusk, with the Waterworks splash pad and River Play area for children 12 and under, a pavilion with the park's only designated smoking area, and Scottie Yard, an off-leash dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs and double-gated entry. The park hosts events through the year, including the Music on the Half Shell concert series presented by Chesapeake Bank, the Fall Into Kilmarnock Fall Festival with vendors, games and a bounce house, and Christmas in the Park with a lighted evening walk. Space can be reserved for events through an application and fee schedule administered by the Town.
Scottie Yard, the park's dog park, opened May 28, 2011 and was the first dog park in the Northern Neck. The park is operated by the Town of Kilmarnock, which was first settled in the mid-1600s as "The Crossroads" and incorporated in 1930.
