Vinateria is a Harlem restaurant serving Italian and Spanish cuisine, proudly Black-owned and women-owned, and deeply rooted in the neighborhood it calls home. Founded by Yvette Leeper-Bueno, a lifelong New Yorker whose parents met in Harlem in the 1950s, the restaurant reflects her own multigenerational ties to the community, where she has lived with her family for over two decades. Located at 2211 Frederick Douglass Boulevard, Vinateria has been part of the Harlem dining landscape since 2013, offering vibrant yet comforting dishes rooted in the rich culinary traditions of Italy and Spain. Vinateria was created by Yvette Leeper-Bueno, a lifelong New Yorker with deep roots in Harlem. That personal history shaped her vision for the restaurant, which she opened in 2013 on Frederick Douglass Boulevard as a proudly Black-owned and women-owned business. Rather than importing a concept from elsewhere, Leeper-Bueno built Vinateria around the idea of neighborhood and community, bringing Italian and Spanish culinary traditions into a space designed to feel like an extension of Harlem itself. Her goal was to create somewhere that felt welcoming and familiar, where guests would be treated like longtime friends rather than customers. More than a decade later, that founding vision still defines the restaurant, which continues to serve as both a dining destination and a genuine part of the Harlem community Leeper-Bueno has called home for most of her life.
