Cattle farm, Hauling service in Chester, SC
A&A Farms and Hauling is an owner-operated cattle farm in Chester, South Carolina, about 50 miles from the North Carolina state line. The farm raises Black and Red Angus cattle that are free-ranging, grass-fed and grass-finished, with a focus on producing quality beef calves using sustainable practices. The farm sells cattle rather than meat and does not process animals; as of 2026 its website says no cattle are currently for sale and invites people to check back or contact the farm with questions or to schedule a visit. The hauling side of the business delivers landscape materials such as dirt and stone for residential and commercial customers in York County and surrounding areas.
In 1979, Lawrence and Mae Hopkins began raising cattle as a hobby on a small plot of land in Chester, South Carolina, starting with one bull, a few Hereford cows and a tin barn for square hay bales. In 2009 their son Darrian took over the land and animals and continued caring for them the way his parents had. A&A Farms grew out of Lawrence and Mae's dream and Darrian's desire to continue their legacy, and his daughter Alex now helps on the farm.
