Organic farm, Farm, Mushroom supplier in Dansville, MI
Agape Organic Farms is a 30-acre farm near Dansville, Michigan, owned by Shara Trierweiler, who describes it as a Black, woman-owned, certified organic farm. Its main products today are purebred Berkshire pork and more than 28 varieties of gourmet mushrooms. The pigs are raised outdoors in rotational paddocks from farrow to finish, and the mushrooms are wood-decomposing species grown in a greenhouse on organic substrates. The farm sells fresh pork, bacon, sausages, meat bundles, fresh mushrooms and home growing kits through its online store. Its seasonal CSA delivers pork and mushrooms weekly, either picked up or delivered on Saturdays within 25 miles. It also sells at the Meridian Farmers Market and Detroit's Eastern Market, and supplies Michigan restaurants. Its slogan is 'No Bad Stuff Ever.'
Shara Trierweiler began farming in 2017 with her then-husband. After a divorce, she and her children were without a home for about two years but kept farming, boarding their animals with members of the farming community. She bought the Agape farm property in July 2020. She now runs it with her children Philomena and Dominic. In October 2024 the farm raised funds to rebuild after a theft of equipment and building materials meant for a mushroom-growing expansion.
