About Alexia House Of Braiding
An African hair braiding salon run by two braiders with over 20 years of experience, located about seven minutes from downtown Houston and the medical center. Styles include box braids, knotless braids, boho and Fulani variations, bob-length braids, cornrows and feeding braids, crochet braids, Senegalese twists, and faux, butterfly, and mermaid locs, with takedown, detangling, and prep services also offered. Each appointment begins with a detailed consultation so clients can bring their own style reference or have one customized. Booking is by direct phone call, with a deposit required and clients asked to arrive with hair washed, blow-dried, and detangled.
The two sisters behind the salon began braiding in the early 1990s, when one of them wanted the Janet Jackson braids from Poetic Justice and their mother refused to do them. They taught themselves on each other's hair and soon began braiding for others. The salon itself was established in 2022.
