Mobile caterer in Jersey City, NJ
Somewhere on the Jersey City food truck circuit, a lobster roll cracked the top of a Meadowlands festival lineup, and Angry Archies has been chasing that kind of moment ever since. Chef and owner Chris Curado runs the operation with his cousin Michael Ponte out of a home base at 565 Palisade Ave, the truck itself a rolling extension of a menu built around New England-style seafood: jumbo lump crab cakes packed tight with meat instead of filler, buttery lobster rolls, and chowders meant to warm hands on a cold event night. It reads like a family recipe box scaled up to commercial size rather than a concept dreamed up by committee. The truck picked up Best Food at the Food Truck Mashup at the Meadowlands in 2016 and Best Food Truck at the East Hanover Food Truck Festival in 2017 -- real competition wins in a crowded field of trucks all fighting for the same festival crowd. Catering has become its own line of business: drop-off and pickup orders for smaller gatherings, or the truck itself parked at a private event, office party, or festival, with a stated minimum that covers a full catering menu and an hour of service. What started as a seafood shack on wheels has grown into an events business without losing the thing that got it noticed in the first place -- a crab cake worth standing in line for. For Jersey City and the wider Hudson County area, Angry Archies is proof a food truck can build a real following on quality alone.
Founded in 2015 by Chef Chris Curado and his cousin Michael Ponte as a family-run food truck, later expanding into catering and winning Best Food Truck honors at the 2016 Meadowlands Food Truck Mashup and 2017 East Hanover Food Truck Festival.
