Corporate office in Mandeville, LA
A privately held hospitality and foodservice company operating across four lines of business: franchising, restaurant ownership, catering and restaurant management, and coffee and tea. Its brands include PJ's Coffee of New Orleans, WOW American Eats, Board House Serious Sandwiches and New Orleans Roast, with locations in 30 states plus Kuwait and Vietnam. The company owns and operates 23 restaurants in three states alongside more than 200 franchised locations. Its coffee and tea division runs a New Orleans roasting and packaging facility, sourcing premium arabica coffee worldwide and distributing to grocery, convenience, hotel, office and foodservice accounts, with private label options available.
The company was formed by brothers Paul, Steven and Scott Ballard, who began their franchise careers in 1997 as Smoothie King and PJ's Coffee franchisees in Louisiana, Georgia and North Carolina. They reunited in Louisiana to expand as PJ's franchisees and opened the first WOW Cafe in 2001, the same year Ballard Brands was formed. The company acquired PJ's Coffee in 2008, launched New Orleans Roast as a wholesale and CPG concept that same year, and acquired Boardhouse Sandwiches and City Diner in 2010. Headquarters are in Mandeville, north of New Orleans.
