Hair salon in Charlotte, NC
BIGNON'S AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING operates two salon locations under the Bignons brand in the Charlotte area: Bignons at Pavilion, booked through GlossGenius, and Bignons at South Tryon, located at 7524 South Tryon Street in Charlotte, which books through Fresha. Both locations are open long hours, from 7:00am to 8:00pm, to accommodate clients around work and family schedules. The salon's signature offering is what it calls "the Home of $220 Any Style," a flat-rate approach to pricing braiding services that includes complimentary premium hair at no additional cost — removing one of the more unpredictable costs clients usually face when booking a braid appointment. Styles include Tree K braids, described on the site as "a timeless, elegant braid style to elevate your look," along with a broader range of protective braiding options. Beyond braiding, the salon also offers blowouts and silk press services for clients who want a smooth, polished finish, locs treatments for maintenance of established locs, and a dedicated braid removal service billed as a "gentle, thorough takedown service to keep your hair healthy" rather than a rushed unraveling. Appointments require a $25 nonrefundable deposit to secure a booking slot. The brand overall describes itself as "Your Complete Beauty Destination," inviting clients to "transform your look — all in one place," and frames its salons as part of a larger "Queendom" where the goal is to "elevate your beauty to royal heights" through consistent, quality braiding work across both Charlotte locations.
Bignon's began in 1996 from humble beginnings, serving women across greater Charlotte, and grew as its stylists' work spread by word of mouth. It now operates three salons in Charlotte. The name "Bignon" means "God is great" and comes from the Fon language of Benin, West Africa; founder Kristy Béké's father gave her the name after the trials her parents endured during her birth. She credits her mother, alongside whom she worked in Benin, with teaching her business from a young age.
