Farmers Market in Raleigh, NC
Black Farmers Market is a nonprofit farmers market supporting Black farmers and food entrepreneurs across the Triangle, addressing food apartheid in North Carolina. Rotating Sundays between Durham and Raleigh each season, the market connects shoppers directly with growers selling fresh, locally grown produce. It accepts SNAP and offers a Double Bucks match program, alongside wholesale partnerships and business support for Black-owned agricultural vendors.
The market grew out of Black August in the Park, launched in 2015, evolving by 2018–2019 into the Black Farmers Market. Since 2020, it has run every season from April to November, rotating between Durham and Raleigh so more neighborhoods can reach it. Beyond weekly markets, the organization runs the Cultivators Club and hosted its inaugural Grazefully Rooted gala, building lasting support for Black growers.
