About Black Run Transmission
Drivetrain service and parts covering heavy- and medium-duty trucks, light trucks and cars, performance builds, industrial gearboxes, and obsolete parts. Additional services include federal inspections, driveline angle analysis, and Service Ranger 4 diagnostics. The shop calls itself a Mustang and 18-wheeler specialist, and its technicians have more than 60 years of combined drivetrain experience with regular attendance at manufacturer training schools.
Steve and Jan Gaswint started the business in 1986 out of a 1600 sq. ft. two-car garage so Jan could stay home with their first son, with Steve working evenings after 10-hour days in the oil fields at Halliburton. He left Halliburton in 1988 to run the shop full time, added a garage large enough for a semi in 1992, and moved into a 14,500 sq. ft. building on Hwy. 146 in 1997. Their son Jake, who began sweeping floors and cleaning parts at age 10, purchased the business from his parents in January 2025. The company employs five people.
