Black Sheep Meat Market is a Black-Owned butcher shop and neighborhood grocery at 2301 Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville, with a second store at 100 Fleming Street in Laurens. Owner Pat Cheatham cuts fresh meat daily, from ribeyes, T-bones and oxtails to turkey wings, pork feet and whiting, and packs fourteen numbered bundles priced for families. The shop accepts SNAP, runs a weekend meat mobile, and trains young butchers.
Patrick Cheatham spent years cutting meat in grocery stores before buying a $10,000 meat-cutting machine for $1,200 at a closing Bi-Lo and opening Black Sheep in 2021, mid-pandemic. A closing Spartanburg Piggly Wiggly supplied a second bandsaw in 2023. The meat mobile launched in 2022, the Laurens store opened in August 2025, and by 2026 the business had 19 employees, five of them trained butchers.
