A 501(c)3 nonprofit serving low- and no-income residents of Mingo County, West Virginia and Martin County, Kentucky with four main programs: a food pantry open Monday through Friday with emergency weekend access and no limit on visits, a free store stocked with donated clothing, housewares, hygiene and baby products, appliances, furniture and building materials, emergency financial assistance, and a transit department. The transit service, established in 1998, is the only public transportation in Mingo County and is free to residents, with rides scheduled about five days in advance. Emergency aid covers utility disconnects, funeral costs, car repairs, medication, eyeglasses, dentures, propane and kerosene, relocation for domestic abuse, and addiction recovery support, with no application red tape. The organization also runs pop-up fresh produce markets, delivers food to homebound seniors, and operates a Hospitality House on the Tug River with 18 beds for visiting volunteer groups.

Founded in 1994 by Sister Brendan Conlon, who began as a one-woman agency with little more than a mission statement. The organization is unaffiliated with any church or denomination and now has eight full-time employees along with volunteers. Its stated mission is to respond to emergency and need with immediacy and simplicity, respecting the dignity of all persons in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
