About Dame's Chicken and Waffles
Dame's Chicken and Waffles is a full-service Southern restaurant in East Durham, built on what it calls its Almost World Famous Chicken & Waffles. Fried chicken is paired with a classic, sweet potato, gingerbread or vegan waffle and a signature shmear, a whipped crème butter. The menu also offers shrimp and grits, blackened salmon, a fried chicken sandwich and Southern sides, and the kitchen caters.
Damion "Dame" Moore started Dame's in 2010 as Blue Mountain Catering, a part-time operation. As demand grew, he and college friend Randy Wadsworth rebranded and reopened it as a full-service restaurant. It became one of the first tied to downtown Durham's revitalization, later moving to East Durham's South Driver Street, and the concept has also opened in Greensboro and Cary.
