About Darick Books

A Milwaukee bookstore and creative space stocking titles written by founder Darick Spears across roughly 15 categories, including Black history, religious and biblical studies, poetry, philosophy, self-help, children's books, comics, and graded spelling and math workbooks. Darick Spears turned to writing in a notebook as a child as a way to process ideas he could not otherwise express, and went on to author more than 200 books along with 25-plus hip-hop albums and four films streaming on Amazon Prime. He owns DDS Mediaworks LLC, a tri-media company focused on arts, education, and business, which has offered business services for over 10 years. In the last five years the company opened the Darick Books brick-and-mortar store in Milwaukee, described on the site as "the first bookstore of its kind." The organization was a 2022 Wisconsin Marketplace Finalist in Thought Leadership and has been covered by outlets including CBS, Fox, and NBC.
