A four-attorney general practice firm serving individuals and businesses in Virginia's Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula from the historic Ritchie House in downtown Tappahannock. The firm was founded in 1941 and traces its roots to A. Fleet Dillard, born in Essex County in 1912, who studied at Hampden Sydney College and Duke University Law School before earning his law degree from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law in 1937 and teaching there as an adjunct professor. He began practicing in Tappahannock, then served in Richmond as Assistant Director of the Division of Statutory Research and Drafting for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He returned to Tappahannock in 1943 and served as Commonwealth's Attorney for Essex County until 1945, later returning to private practice there until his retirement.
