About Fat Daddy's BBQ

Barbecue served in Uptown Greenwood's Shoppes at Hampton Place, with pulled pork, brisket, ribs, smoked chicken, hash, burgers, and sides such as mac and cheese, green beans, baked beans, and potato salad. Both light tomato and mustard sauces are offered, along with hush puppies and peach cobbler. Reviewers note food made from scratch and an efficient ordering system in the 4,000-square-foot dining room.

The original Fat Daddy's BBQ was started in Cross Hill, SC, by Billy Ray Reeder, who traded recipes and tips with his sons and refined the menu until the Cross Hill restaurant became a Lakelands barbecue destination. His son Chris Reeder, a Lakelands native who spent a dozen years in Charleston running Jim 'N Nick's and helping open Rodney Scott's BBQ, opened the Greenwood location to build on his father's work. Chris has said returning to Greenwood, where he grew up, was a chance for his family to be part of the city's growth.
