New American restaurant, American restaurant, Bar in Philadelphia, PA
Friday Saturday Sunday is a Michelin-starred restaurant on South 21st Street near Rittenhouse Square, open since 1973 and reinvented in 2015 by chef Chad Williams and his wife Hanna. Upstairs is a reservation-only tasting menu, and the ground-floor bar serves cocktails and a la carte dishes. It is open Wednesday through Sunday evenings and won a James Beard Outstanding Restaurant award in 2023.
Chad and Hanna Williams bought Friday Saturday Sunday in 2015. A Philadelphia native, Chad trained in Jose Garces’ kitchens, staged at Mugaritz and Guy Savoy in Europe, and cooked at Manresa and Saison in California; Hanna worked in the front of house. They rebuilt the Philadelphia institution, which dates to 1973, into a tasting-menu destination that earned a Michelin star.
