Farm, Cattle farm, Meat products store in Bahama, NC
Grass Grazed is a pasture-based regenerative farm in northern Durham County run by Derrick and Paige Jackson. It raises 100% grass-fed cattle managed to American Grassfed Association standards, Berkshire-Duroc cross pigs on rotated woodland paddocks, Cornish Cross meat chickens on pasture, and laying hens of more than five breeds. Supplemental feed is non-GMO, and the farm uses no added hormones. Animals are processed at USDA-inspected facilities. The farm has sold through its own online store, on-farm pickup, and farmers markets including Holly Springs, Moore County and The Black Market NC in Raleigh, and offers wholesale. It has also hosted farm tours, chicken processing classes and Farmers Table dinners, and in 2025 launched Grazed Snax, a sugar-free pork stick made from its pasture-raised pork.
Derrick and Paige Jackson started Grass Grazed in 2019 with 25 mail-order chickens, as Derrick was leaving a 14-year military career at Fort Bragg. They soon added pigs and cattle. When the pandemic canceled farmers markets a few months after launch, they built an e-commerce store to keep selling. By 2021 the first-generation farmers were raising more than 700 animals on a 7-acre homestead in Bahama and about 170 acres of farmland in Rougemont, working alongside their five children.
