About HK Farm

HK Farm is a family-owned farm of more than 1,000 acres near the Ohoopee River in Cobbtown, at the northern end of Tattnall County, Georgia. Fourth- and fifth-generation family members own and run it through HK Farm, LLC. The farm raises beef cattle and has sold grass-fed beef, free-range eggs and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Its Georgia Grown listing also includes soap and body care products sold directly to consumers. It is expanding into agritourism. The MJ Legacy Center, a rustic venue with a pond view, wrap-around deck, fireplaces and full kitchen, can be rented for weddings, reunions and meetings for up to 150 guests. The farm also offers group workshops, tours and youth programs on farm life.

The family's land history begins in the mid-1800s, when Handy Kennedy bought 175 acres in Cobbtown from Lewis Cobb. The farm uses 1869 as its founding date. His son Marshton and Marshton's wife Mamie raised thirteen children there and grew the farm to about 1,900 acres. Marshton's son Handy Kennedy Sr., a World War II volunteer, and his wife Milton Jane ('M.J.') bought 900 acres from his father with a loan from New York Life and owned 1,060 acres by 1973. He left the farm debt-free when he died in 2004, and his twelve children formed HK Farm, LLC to keep the land together.
