About IDG Legal

Now operating as Rideshare Legal Services, this service provides free legal consultations and attorney referrals for Uber, Lyft, and for-hire vehicle drivers, with discounted flat fees and reduced hourly rates through vetted attorneys. Common matters include traffic tickets, suspended licenses, Taxi & Limousine Commission issues, Black Car Fund workers' compensation claims after accidents, housing and landlord disputes, immigration questions, family law, small claims, document review, and simple will preparation. Drivers with 9/11-related illnesses can get help applying to the Victim Compensation Fund and the WTC Health Program. Staff and translators speak Arabic, Spanish, Mandarin, Haitian Creole, Russian, Urdu, Polish, and other languages, and the team will make phone calls or send letters on a driver's behalf.

The organization began in New York as IDG Legal, a partner of the Independent Drivers Guild, and serves close to 100,000 for-hire-vehicle drivers there before expanding to drivers nationwide. It rebranded as Rideshare Legal Services with the same team, services, and ongoing cases. It recently added financial guidance and Medicare assistance to its offerings. It notes that it is not a law firm and is not the Independent Drivers Guild itself.
