Jamaican restaurant, Bar, Bar & grill in Tampa, FL
Jamaican cooking made from scratch across four Tampa locations, with jerk chicken seasoned using imported herbs and spices smoked in the traditional method, served with the house Andrew's Redd Sauce. Other dishes include oxtail stew with rice and beans, pan-fried red snapper, coconut shrimp, fried sweet plantains, baked mac and cheese, and wings, alongside a full bar and Jamaican sodas. The Fowler Avenue location runs an all-you-can-eat Caribbean buffet daily starting at 11 AM. The restaurant also handles catering, private parties, and events, and offers online ordering and reservations.
Owner and operator Andrew Ashmeade left his hometown of Christiana, Jamaica, in 1986 to attend USF in Tampa, and after graduating set out to introduce Jamaican cuisine and culture to the city. He grew up cooking with his family, learning how to marinate chicken and smoke herbs for jerk seasoning, techniques he still uses. He has run Jerk Hut since 1993.
