About JFW Accounting Services
A virtual accounting and advisory firm focused on nonprofits, with additional bookkeeping and financial reporting services for small businesses. Nonprofit work covers fund accounting and restricted fund tracking, Statement of Functional Expenses, program expense allocation, Form 990 preparation, ASC 958 compliance, grant reporting, and audit preparation including Uniform Guidance compliance. Day-to-day services include accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, payroll processing, and month-end close, alongside outsourced CFO support for budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and long-range planning. The firm is a certified Sage Intacct implementation partner and configures the platform for nonprofits as well as construction, SaaS/tech, and professional services firms; every engagement begins with a Client Assessment.
The firm was founded by Jo-Anne Williams Barnes, a CPA and Chartered Global Management Accountant who holds an MSA, an MBA, and a BS in Accounting from the University of Baltimore. She is a certified Sage Intacct Accounting and Implementation Specialist, a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, an AICPA Not-for-Profit Certificate II holder, and a Standard for Excellence Licensed Consultant, and belongs to the AICPA, MACPA, and GWSCPA. JFW serves clients across the United States and is a certified MBE/DBE/SBE in the state of Maryland.
