About Keys to Black Wealth

Financial literacy education delivered through "edutainment," a mix of education and entertainment, along with mentorship and programming aimed at closing the racial wealth gap. Companies, organizations, and groups can book wealth- and health-building workshops suited to lunch-and-learns, retreats, professional development sessions, business resource group events, and family gatherings. The organization also produces an annual Black History Month Experience in Columbus, Ohio, an in-person event with networking, live interviews, a live studio audience, and guest speakers such as Anthony Oneal, Romeo Miller, David Banner, and John Hope Bryant. A companion effort, Keys to Black Health, extends the same approach to health.

Keys to Black Wealth and Keys to Black Health were founded in 2019 as a grassroots, mission-driven enterprise responding to the widening racial wealth gap and the lack of generational wealth passed down in Black and Brown families. The organization points to data showing the median white household held $188,200 in wealth in 2019, roughly 7.8 times that of the typical Black household. It is led by co-CEOs David DeBerry II and Brandy N. Avery.
