The firm began in a storefront office near the four corners of Red Hook, New York, in 1973, founded by Woody N. Klose, a Red Hook Central High and Cornell graduate who served in the U.S. Air Force and earned his J.D. from Albany Law School in 1972. Woody practiced in the community until his death in September 2004 and also served as a Dutchess County legislator from 1988 to 2003, chairing the legislature from 1996 to 1999. His son Peter Klose, a graduate of Cornell and New England School of Law, worked as a litigation associate at Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker before opening a White Plains office in 1999 and a Nyack office in 2003 while assisting his father with litigated matters.
