Estate planning attorney, Law firm, Attorney in Gainesville, GA
An estate planning practice covering wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives, probate, trust administration, special needs planning, estate tax planning, asset protection, and guardianship plans for minor children. Work is billed on a flat fee agreed in advance rather than hourly, so follow-up calls and planning sessions don't generate separate bills. Clients start with a free Legacy Planning Session, and the firm reviews each plan every three years rather than treating the signing as the end of the engagement. The firm is veteran owned and focuses solely on estate planning, including strategies for blended families.
Founder Adam S. Hicks graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served six years as a Surface Warfare Officer before earning his J.D. from Mercer University and joining the Georgia Bar in 1995. He began in Gainesville as a State Court prosecutor handling DUI, family violence, and traffic matters, then joined Stewart, Melvin & Frost in 1997, where he worked alongside estate planning attorney Woody Stewart on plans for more than 125 families. Frustration with the billable hour and its effect on client relationships led him into the corporate sector from 2002 to 2015, after which he returned to estate planning and eventually built a firm around a flat fee model instead.
