About Miss Patty's Southern Soul & Seafood Kitchen

Southern soul food and seafood served for dine-in or take-out, with entrées that come with two sides and a bread. The menu runs to fried Louisiana catfish, jumbo shrimp, fried ribs, slow-cooked oxtails with bell peppers and onions, and smothered pork chops, several served with Opelousas cream sauce made with crabmeat, shrimp, crawfish and oysters over dirty rice. Sides include garlic mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, collard greens and cabbage, and there is a sandwich lineup of cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks and a veggie burger, plus daily combo specials. Catering is available for events with a customizable Southern and American comfort food menu, and the business also operates food trucks.

Miss Patty was born in Chicago to a mother from Arkansas and a father from Mississippi, and got her start in the restaurant business young, working in the kitchen at Ivory's Shrimp House cutting potatoes, peeling shrimp and occasionally helping cook shrimp, chicken and fish. She continued cooking through family dinners and political party receptions before opening her first gourmet food truck, The Food Patty Wagon, in 2012, and a second truck, Miss Patty's Seafood-N-Chicken Cuisine, in 2015. The Houston restaurant is her first brick-and-mortar location, named for her roots — as she puts it, her Southern from the South and her Soul from the South side of Chicago.
