About My Shade & Texture

A beauty bar and retailer focused on textured hair, with Beauty Curators on hand to match customers to hair and skin products for their shade and texture. The Blend & Glow Bar, offered in-store and as a mobile experience, lets customers create custom products with refillable, eco-friendly options. The store leans into experiential retail with QR-code product education, hands-on sampling and demos, plus DIY workshops and pop-up events supporting local small businesses. The founder also runs Girl, Grow Your Brand, a mentorship program helping beauty entrepreneurs build their brands.

Founder Pamela "Pam" Thompson started the business after years of frustration navigating big-box store aisles for textured haircare and finding little representation. My Shade & Texture opened in 2019 as a destination where textured hair is celebrated. The Blend & Glow Bar grew out of her own practice of making hair and skin products to manage seborrheic dermatitis. Drawing on a background in marketing, operations, and brand building, she later founded Girl, Grow Your Brand to support other small business owners.
