About Old Tioga Farm

A working vegetable farm with a small on-farm restaurant seating 18 guests on Friday and Saturday evenings, where the cooking follows an Italian tradition rooted in Marcella Hazan's writings and aims to be elegant but straightforward. Vegetables are raised on about an acre, which also supplies a CSA membership. Justin Naylor teaches cooking classes at the farm and leads week-long small-group culinary trips in Rome, Bologna, Venice, Barolo, and Sicily; wine classes and a cookbook round out the offerings. Dillon Naylor manages the front of the house, the dining room ambiance, and the music.

Owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Justin and Dillon Naylor, who met at St. John's College in Annapolis and married in 2004. Justin found cooking while working on an organic vegetable farm in southeastern Pennsylvania, later taught Latin, and staged at Osteria Pane e Salute in Woodstock, Vermont; the couple spent a summer in 2005 working on farms in Emilia Romagna and Lombardy. In 2007 they bought a house on four acres in northeastern Pennsylvania and set out to recreate an Italian model of a restaurant growing out of a working farm. The farm, restaurant, and classes started part-time and became a full-time commitment in 2014.
