About On the Run Coffee Bar
A coffee bar permanently stationed inside Emily's Garden in Fort Lauderdale, serving espresso drinks and brewed coffee in a garden setting. Beans are selected from ethical, sustainable, and fair trade sources. A pop-up cart still handles private and corporate event catering, carrying on the operation's original mobile format. The business describes itself as Florida's first fully electric mobile coffee bar, running on battery power with zero emissions, and says it was named one of the top two coffee shops in Fort Lauderdale.
The idea began in college, out of a need for good coffee during long study sessions and the observation that busy schedules cause people to skip coffee moments altogether. That became a battery-powered mobile cafe, which has since settled permanently inside Emily's Garden while keeping its pop-up cart. Owner Bertha Hurtado was born and raised in Lima, Peru, moved to San Francisco for college, and earned graduate degrees in forensic anthropology before building a career in Florida and turning to coffee.
