About Plowshares Coffee Bloomingdale
A specialty coffee roaster and café company with locations on the Upper West Side and in West Harlem, where the Amsterdam Avenue site doubles as the roastery. Beyond espresso and brewed coffee, they sell beans by the bag online, run coffee subscriptions, supply wholesale accounts, and serve pastries alongside beer, wine and cider. The Harlem café hosts live music, including Sunday Sessions of jazz from 2:00 to 4:30 PM with a rotating trio that invites local musicians to sit in, plus the monthly 'Free Bread' music night hosted by the band Granite Garden.
Plowshares began roasting specialty coffee in Hillburn, New York in 2008, at a time when the number of quality-focused roasters in the metropolitan area was very small.
