About Pure Body Salon & Suites
Pure Body Salon & Suites traces its roots back to 1983, when master barber stylist David Berry opened Pure Body Hair Studio on Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte. The business relocated to Freedom Drive in 1984, rebranding as Pure Body Hair Designs, Inc., and stayed there for more than two decades before its next transformation in 2007, when it moved into a restored 1940s home in Charlotte's Historic Wesley Heights neighborhood and became Pure Body Salon & Spa. In 2020, the business evolved again into its current model, Pure Body Salon & Suites, offering independent booth and suite rentals to beauty professionals across two floors. David Berry, now President and a master hairstylist with more than 30 years of experience in precision cuts, color, and advanced hair treatments, co-founded the salon alongside his wife Angela Berry, who serves as Vice President and specializes in cutting, coloring, and customized hair solutions. Their daughter Jala joined the team as a stylist at age 19, and early team members Robert Smith and Kim Thomas have remained with the salon since 1984, giving the business decades of continuity in its staff. Services span hair extensions, relaxers, silk press treatments, precision haircuts, balayage, ombre, highlights, natural hair care, hair loss consultations, steam therapy, smoothing systems, and bridal styling, all delivered inside a black-and-white salon space featuring chandeliers. Pure Body has picked up multiple industry honors over the years, including first place in the 2016 Queen City Hair Battle, the 2011 QC Information Broker Salon and Spa of the Year award, and a 2009 Best of Business Award.
