About Pure Salon Spa

An Aveda salon and spa in the Fern Creek area of Louisville offering cuts and styling, Aveda hair color and express color services, treatments and texture work, hair extensions, makeup, waxing and tinting, facials, and massage. The team states it has the technical skills to serve all hair types from straight to wavy, curly and coily. A matchmaking quiz helps new guests get paired with a stylist, and Aveda products are sold on site along with gift cards and Aveda Plus Rewards. Stylists complete a 90-day Aveda training program and 32 hours of paid continuing education each year.

Owner Laura Watkins was working as a product manager at a loyalty marketing company in 2002 when a co-worker asked what she would do if nothing stood in her way; she answered that she would get licensed as a cosmetologist and open an Aveda salon, and did so within the year. She researched Louisville's emerging markets, identified Fern Creek as one of the fastest-growing areas lacking a higher-end salon option, and opened the doors on November 22, 2008.
