About TEXTURE Education | Natural Hair Salon

TEXTURE Education is a natural hair care salon and continuing education academy in Fayetteville, NC, founded and led by Jameelah Evans, known to clients as Meelah. The salon's tagline, Making Natural Simple, reflects its focus on serving curly and natural-haired clients through personalized consultations, treatments, and styling. TEXTURE Hair Care & Academy offers professional continuing education for licensed stylists in addition to in-salon services, positioning itself as both a client-facing salon and a training resource for the natural hair care industry. New clients can book through the salon's online booking system, choosing either a standalone consultation or a full-service appointment that includes a consultation, treatment, and style. The salon accommodates clients at multiple stages of their natural hair journey: it offers haircuts on curly, natural hair without requiring it to be straightened first, and it provides transitioning styles for clients moving away from chemically treated or heat-damaged hair who are not ready or able to do a full "big chop." The salon also maintains a retail shop for hair care products. Clients can reach the team directly with questions or photos via email at [email protected] or through the site's chat feature. TEXTURE Hair Care LLC has been operating for more than a decade, building its practice around the specific needs of curly and natural hair textures rather than treating natural hair care as an afterthought to relaxed or straightened styling.

Jameelah Evans, known as Meelah, is the founder and owner of TEXTURE Education. A native of Fayetteville, NC, and the daughter of Army retirees, she is an alumna of Fayetteville State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in accounting, and of Paul Mitchell The School, where she trained in cosmetology. Meelah has combined her love of business and hair into what she describes as a one-of-a-kind salon built specifically around natural hair care and education. In business for more than eleven years, she has faced real setbacks along the way, including having no clients right out of cosmetology school and opening her salon just six months before pandemic-related closures forced it shut. Through those challenges, Meelah says she has leaned on her sense of purpose to create a welcoming space that serves the public while also building wealth she can pass down to future generations, describing her work as a way of pushing through generational curses. She hopes her own journey and persistence can inspire and motivate the natural-haired women she serves, offering a model for building a lasting business out of personal setbacks.
