About Thompson Hospitality
Thompson Hospitality is the nation's largest Black-owned food and facilities management company, founded by Warren Thompson in 1992. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, it provides contract dining, catering, and facilities management to corporations, universities, healthcare systems, and HBCUs across 45 states, in partnership with Compass Group North America since 1997. The company also owns and operates a family of restaurant brands under Thompson Restaurants.
Founder Warren Thompson started young: a grass-cutting business at 14, selling produce from a school bus at 15, and buying his family's hog business at 16. He earned a degree from Hampden-Sydney College and an MBA from UVA's Darden School, then spent nine years at Marriott before launching Thompson Hospitality in 1992 with a $100,000 investment. He now chairs one of the country's largest Black-owned companies.
