About Uncommon Catering & Eatery

A boutique catering operation handling weddings, corporate events, showers, cocktail parties, birthdays, celebrations of life, and event planning, with menus customized to each event. Coordinated decor and design are offered alongside the food, including work with an in-house florist. The number of parties taken on is deliberately limited, and the owners serve as the client's direct point of contact from first inquiry through the end of the event. Couples planning weddings are invited to a group Tasting Experience sampling 30 to 40 dishes; the kitchen also offers private event space and occasional pop-up dinners and wine dinners.

Travis Smith and Tara Vernau-Smith, each with more than 28 years of experience and 16 of them working side by side, founded the company in 2015 to pursue their own vision of food and service. The business started in the Incubator Kitchen at East End Market in Audubon Park alongside other young food companies. In December 2019 they moved into their own kitchen on Curry Ford Road and opened Uncommon Catering & Eatery in February 2020, later closing the lunch eatery to concentrate on catering and family.
