About Underground Books

Underground Books is an independent bookstore in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, California, opened in 2003 by the nonprofit St. HOPE as part of its 40 Acres Cultural Center. Known as the literary hub of Oak Park, it hosts author talks, poetry events, children's programming, and pop-ups from local Black-owned vendors. It's recognized as one of the country's notable Black-owned bookstores.
