A full-service independent grocery store carrying local produce, bakery items, Certified Angus Beef and meat cut fresh daily, plus a deli making sandwiches and salads daily and a hot deli bar. As many as 15 local vendors are stocked at any given time. It is one of a handful of Virginia stores offering Virginia Fresh Match, which gives EBT customers 50% off fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, and it runs a 5% military discount on Mondays and a 5% senior discount on Tuesdays. Founded in February 1992 by Tom and Wendy Garrett in Wakefield, Virginia, the market has served the Coastal Plain/Tidewater region for more than thirty years. It remains locally owned and operated, with three generations of owners working together alongside staff that includes siblings, parents, partners and cousins. Community work includes food bank donations, produce sidewalk sales, truckload meat sales, SNAP food demonstrations, an early childhood development program, and donations to local fire and police departments, churches and sports leagues.
