A creditors' rights law firm offering both legal and collection services under one roof, with local and nationwide representation and a single point of contact for clients. Practice areas include bankruptcy recovery (litigation, risk assessment, commercial and consumer bankruptcy services, outsourced servicing), consumer collections (healthcare, education loan recovery, credit union representation, subrogation, collateral recovery, cease and desist), commercial collections and litigation, probate recovery including estate location and claim filing, and real estate default work such as foreclosure, eviction, foreclosure alternatives, and real estate litigation and defense. The firm emphasizes strict compliance with federal and state regulations, data security, consolidated account access, real-time reporting, and flexible fee structures. Consumers can log in to check accounts and make payments online.
The firm was founded in 1930 as Gardner & Spilka. In 1962 Bob Weltman joined at the invitation of his father, Maurice, took over the small collection department, and with Alan Weinberg built what was then a new concept: a collection agency operating inside a creditors' rights law firm. By the late 1970s the firm was renamed Weltman, Weinberg & Associates, LPA, and was among the first law firms in the country to computerize its operations; the name later recognized Al Reis's contributions.
