About Western Market

A food hall in Foggy Bottom gathering multiple independent stalls under one roof, including Andy's Pizza, Arepa Zone, Bandoola Bowl, Bullfrog Bagels, Capo Deli, Gigi's Pasta, Masons Lobster, Onkei, Roaming Rooster, South Block, Duke's Grocery and Bindaas. The mix spans specialty pizza, bagels, Mediterranean, sushi, street food and dessert, with brunch and happy hour service at some stalls. Gift cards valid across participating stalls, online ordering, co-working space and tour group bookings are also available. The market hosts events, such as a weekly Bollywood-inspired Doonya dance fitness class.

The Western Market name dates to 1802, when the original market was built as one of three marketplaces conceived by Pierre L'Enfant, alongside Eastern Market and Center Market. It stood at 20th and H Streets, moved to 21st and K Streets NW in 1856, and was torn down in the early 1960s for an office building. George Washington University has owned the building at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. NW since 1984 and, in 2018, partnered with MRP and Westbrook Partners to revitalize it and restore the original marketplace concept as an all-day dining destination.
