Bristol Bar & Grille opened on Bardstown Road on September 27, 1977 and became known for fresh ideas and a bold approach to dining. A former Courier-Journal food editor credited the restaurant with helping launch Louisville's contemporary food scene, citing touches like artichoke hearts in the salad and cracked peppercorns on the steak. The locally owned restaurant has since expanded, including this East End location off North Hurstbourne Parkway and an off-premise catering kitchen on Mellwood Avenue.
