About Carmel Bakery

Carmel Bakery is a historic bakery on Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, that opened in 1899 and occupies the oldest building in Carmel, and the oldest bakery still in its original West Coast location. Owned by the Pepe family since 1986 (also behind Chef Pepe's Italian restaurant), the bakery is known for its giant pretzels, cannoli, and coffee, alongside breakfast burritos and afternoon sandwiches. It operates on a cards-only basis, with no cash accepted.
