About Cleav's Family Market

Cleav's Family Market is a family-owned farm in Hart and LaRue counties in central Kentucky, with its farm in Bonnieville and a store in Hodgenville. It raises hogs, cattle and chickens with no hormones or antibiotics and grows seasonal vegetables using sustainable, regenerative practices, including high tunnels. Customers order online at cleavsfamilymarket.com: whole and half hogs and beef with deposits, pork bundles, a Monthly Meat Drop, two-month meat subscriptions, bacon, sausage and egg subscriptions, and a Buyers Club of weekly meat and produce bundles. Orders close Thursday at 8 p.m., and bundles are delivered Saturday to pickup points in Hodgenville (330 S. Lincoln Blvd., 10–10:30 a.m.), Louisville (Newburg Library, 4800 Exeter Ave., noon–12:30 p.m.) and Lexington (107 W. Loudon St., 1–2 p.m.). The farm also hosts classes for beginning farmers.

Travis Cleaver grew up on his parents' tobacco farm and was drawn to agriculture as a young child. He built Cleav's Family Market as a family operation, farming with his parents, partner Heather Cooper, his two daughters and his employees, with each family member leading part of the work. Kentucky State University supported the farm with two Small-Scale Farm Grants and named Cleaver its 2021 Small Farmer of the Year. The farm says it has served Lexington, Louisville, Elizabethtown and Hodgenville for seven years.
