About Da Spot NYC

Da Spot NYC is a Brooklyn-based retail space and creative hub located at City Point BKLYN in Albee Square, on the main floor of the Albee Square Mall. The store showcases the work of more than 200 historically underrepresented, Black and POC-owned creative brands, offering locally made clothing, art, accessories, jewelry, home goods, and lifestyle products. Shoppers can browse curated collections such as the "All Ways Black" collection, the 'BKLYN-ISH official store merch line, and special-edition drops made in collaboration with organizations like Brooklyn Tech and the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. Categories include books, candles, hats, jackets, pillows, pins, sweatshirts, tees, and totes. Beyond retail, Da Spot NYC offers custom printing services and has produced merchandise for clients including the New York Knicks, Pfizer, Sesame Street, Paul Weiss, and Lululemon. The shop also runs a calendar of community events, including its signature Black Creatives and Culture Market/Festival, along with creative workshops, business panels, and pitch competitions that support independent entrepreneurs. It also serves as a vendor for New York City's Department of Education, providing custom merchandise and entrepreneurship programming to schools. Da Spot NYC was founded in May 2017 by three independent Black creatives who started in a humble 100-square-foot retail space in Dumbo, Brooklyn. What began as a small storefront has grown into a cultural anchor in Downtown Brooklyn, now one of the longest-standing small businesses at City Point BKLYN, serving the borough's creative community for more than seven years. The shop has been recognized nationally for its impact, receiving grants and fellowships from organizations including Goldman Sachs 10KSB, SheaMoisture, McBride Sisters, Citi Trends, FedEx x Hello Alice, Comcast, and Verizon Digital Ready. In 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration named Da Spot a Minority Small Business Champion for its community impact and economic leadership, and the business has also been honored by the Brooklyn District Attorney and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. Da Spot says its impact goes beyond retail: the shop has put more than $950,000 back into the pockets of small businesses through its store and its signature Black Creatives and Culture Festival, which has featured over 500 independent brands. The founders describe the shop as more than a boutique — an economic connector, a cultural incubator, and a home for creatives and shoppers who want to support purpose-driven, Black- and POC-owned brands.
