Cocktail bar in Brooklyn, NY
A 1920s Berlin–inspired cocktail bar in Fort Greene with signature drinks that rework classics of the era with a contemporary Brooklyn angle. Food leans toward elevated bar fare with a subtle German influence, including seafood dishes from a wood-fired oven, plus oysters at happy hour. The room is dark and intimate with gold accents, Art Deco details, a red cabaret curtain at the entrance, black-and-white images of 1920s Berlin, and a commissioned painting by Berlin artist Jim Avignon; a partially covered backyard patio hosts private events. The bar states it welcomes everyone, including LGBTQ+ guests and those who embrace gender fluidity.
Fritz was created by Ayana and Tobias, the German couple behind the Black Forest Brooklyn restaurants, and sits next door to the Black Forest Fort Greene location. The concept draws on the nightlife of Berlin's Golden Twenties and its spirit of openness, creativity, and self-expression.
