It was founded by the Anderson family, whose roots trace back to Scotland, England, and old Europe, and who bring decades of hands-on food experience to the business: Carol Anderson has 30 years of baking experience and has won awards for her pies, while her husband Blake grew up dreaming of being "a taste tester at an ice cream factory." Their adult children, Micah, Carley, and Lauren, have carried that same enthusiasm for baking and ice cream into the next generation of the family business. The Andersons modeled Nor'East after a beloved Maine ice cream shop called The Big Dipper, reacting against restaurant desserts that felt too small and too expensive by committing to generous, affordably priced portions instead.
