About One Hundred Black Men, Inc.
One Hundred Black Men, Inc. (also known as One Hundred Black Men of New York) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive change across New York City's communities, with a focused mission on uplifting the African American community. Founded in 1963, the organization began when a group of like-minded Black leaders came together to advocate for improved conditions in their communities, and over the following six decades it has grown into an influential network spanning business, political, and nonprofit sectors. The organization's work is built around four core pillars: education, economic empowerment, mentorship, and health and wellness. Through its education initiatives, the group provides scholarships and academic support to Black students and communities across the city. Its economic empowerment programs assist small businesses and work to create new financial opportunities for underserved communities. The mentorship arm focuses on guiding young Black men toward positive futures, providing role models and structured support systems. And the health and wellness initiatives support families in low-income communities, including efforts to address mental health disparities affecting the African American community. In recent years, the organization has expanded its focus to include gun violence reduction efforts in Harlem alongside broader community support services. One Hundred Black Men, Inc. is based at 2601 Frederick Douglass Boulevard in New York, and it continues to convene major national gatherings, including hosting activities tied to the 100 Black Men of America National Convention.
