About Ratcliff Premium Meats

Caney Creek Ranch is a 2,500-acre family cattle ranch in Oakwood, in East Texas. It sells its beef under the Ratcliff Premium Meats brand, previously Farm to Freezer Meat Company. Customers can order online for delivery or buy at the ranch branch at 50 PR 294 in Oakwood, Wednesday through Friday. Options include single packages such as steak combos and tailgate grill boxes, whole-cow packages priced by the pound, and subscription boxes delivered every one, two, three or six months. The ranch has also raised registered Charbray cattle and sold bulls, semen and embryos. According to Drovers, the beef business buys cattle from about 30 producers, about 80% of them Black or minority ranchers. It also supplies restaurants, school districts in Austin and Houston, and the Houston Food Bank.

Wesley Ratcliff bought the ranch's first parcel in 1973, and he and his wife Marie built Caney Creek Ranch into a diversified operation. The ranch expanded in 2002. Their daughter Kimberly left a branding job at Bloomberg in New York and returned in 2007 to manage the ranch. She later earned a ranch management diploma from TCU. In 2016 she launched Farm to Freezer Meat Company to sell ranch-direct beef, and it now operates as Ratcliff Premium Meats.
